Senators Ike Ekweremadu of Enugu state and Eyinnaya Abaribe of Abia state are national leaders in PDP. At one point, between 2015-2018, Senator Ekweremadu was the highest office holder in PDP.
Presently, Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe who is the minority leader in the National Assembly is the highest office holder in PDP.
These two are expected to lead the 2023 Igbo presidency in PDP like Ngige, Orji Kalu and Dave Umahi are doing in APC.
But sadly, these two have chickened out. They ran away from the national politics where Ndigbo need most. They went to their states to constitution nuisance and disturb the peace of their states at a time leaders from other zone are fighting over which zone should produce President Buhari’s successor.
It is unfortunate that Ekweremadu and Abaribe have sold Ndigbo out in the battle for PDP presidential ticket in exchange of their states’ gubernatorial ticket.
While Ndigbo in APC are beginning to make waves in preparation for the 2023 presidency, our people in PDP are disappointments. None of them is leading any conversation and demanding that PDP zones its ticket to southeast.
Despite president Buhari from the north concluding a two term of 8 years, the PDP is shamelessly considering the north again.
Our leaders in PDP are not talking. While Ike Ekweremadu is disturbing the peace in Enugu with his anti zoning campaign, Abaribe is doing same in Abia state. Who else will talk for us? Peter Obi is facing a possible arrest and he has rushed to the high court to obtain an order to stop CCB, ICPC and EFCC from arresting him over his secret offshore investment leaked by Pandora Papers.
I commend Ayim Pius Ayim for daring the status quo in PDP. But he is alone voice.
Senators Abaribe and Ekweremadu should return to the national politics where the heat is now and demand the right of Ndigbo. 2023 is the turn of Ndigbo. PDP should never be allowed to zone it to the north.
Whatever secret pact that led two of them to leave the National discuss and retired to their states to disturb the existing politics peace in their states is against posterity.
