A group from the north, Northern Youth Leaders Forum ( NYLF), the umbrella body of 42 Northern youth organizations, has revealed the names of candidates they would support in the next presidential election.

The chairman of the group, Comrade Elliott Afiyo disclose this in an interview with Daily Sun.

Reports have it that Comrade Afiyo said only candidates from the southern Nigeria and the North-east geopolitical zone can be supported. He said it is morally unjustifiable to support a candidate from the northwest because the region has produced two presidents and one vice president.

Below are 6 politicians Afiyo said Northern Youths will support:

Atiku Abubakar

He is from Adamawa state and was the vice president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 under the leadership of Olusegun Obasanjo. The 76-years-old first contested for presidency in 1993 losing the primary of Social Democratic Party to moshood Abiola.

Bala Mohammed

He is the incumbent governor of Bauchi state. Bala was a senator between 2007 and 2010 then he became minister of the Federal Capital Territory from 2010 to 2015. He is 62 years old and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Bola Tinubu

He is a former governor of Lagos state between 1999 and 2007. The 68-years-old is the national leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC.

Nyeson Wike

He is the current governor of Rivers State. Wike is a former minister of state for Education. He is 57 years old.

Orji Uzor Kalu

He is a businessman and politician. He served as governor of Abia state from 1999 to 2007. Kalu is the chairman of SLOK and Daily Sun Newspapers. Kalu is 60 years of age.

Peter Obi 

He is a former governor of Anambra state. Obi was the running mate of Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election. Obi is 59 years old.
