With the 2023 presidential election coming up in less than two years from now, many politicians in the country have begun to perfect their plans on how to emerge as the country’s next President. While some have come out publicly to declare their ambitions, some others are yet to do so. But rumours are getting stronger, indicating that some of these politicians would officially declare their ambitions in the coming days.
Notable among those in this category, are Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President of Nigeria, and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and former Governor of Lagos state. These two political giants are rumoured to have their eyes fixed on the 2023 Presidency. However, many Nigerians particularly the youths, appear to favour younger candidates for several reasons. This has seen many people continue to react differently each time 2023 campaign posters of the two political giants are sighted.
Despite that many people would prefer younger candidates, Nigerians may have to choose between Atiku Abubakar, and Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. The reason for this is that politics is not played with mouths alone, but must be backed by actions. While many Nigerians are quick to project themselves as the much-needed Messiah on social media, only a few take bold steps to try their luck in real life politics.
Sadly, the few that participate in politics, find it difficult to match the power and influence of Atiku, and Tinubu. This could see these two political giants, outshine others to emerge as their party’s flag-bearer for the 2023 presidential election. This would undoubtedly leave Nigerians with the option to choose between Atiku, and Tinubu, considering that the election is believed to be a two horse race between the APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
