Obasanjo should return to PDP to save Nigeria from suffering – Onishe of Ubulu-Uku

The Onishe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, Chief James Onwordi Asika known as Ibori Ubulu has urged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under which he ruled Nigeria from 1999-2007.

He cited the need for his wealth of experience in reshaping and rebranding the party to take over power from the All Progressive Congress (APC) .

The Onishe emphasized that Obasanjo’s experience and influence are crucial in addressing the suffering of Nigerians, which has worsened since the APC took over.

The Onishe also noted that Obasanjo’s departure from the party to become a statesman doesn’t have to be permanent, and that he can return to contribute to Nigeria’s development.

“Obasanjo is a key figure in helping the party regain power.

Being the party’s first elected president with a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s democracy, ahead of the 2027 general elections, he is needed in the party so the party can have a sellable candidate who is determined in bringing the needed changes to Nigerians .

Chief Onwordi optimistic that Obasanjo’s return can help the PDP find a better candidate to defeat the APC’s Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

He opined that PDP is still the only party with the interest of Nigerians at heart .

Chief Onwordi said in 2027, he wants to see a presidential candidate from Igbo land under the PDP winning the election.

“It’s time for the Igbos to produce president” he said
