Army Deactivates 8 illegal Refineries In Rivers State

Operatives of the 6 division Nigerian Army have deactivated eight illegal refineries in the Buguma creeks of Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers state.

The illegal refinery sites according to the acting Deputy Director of the Nigerian Army 6 division Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah, contains over twenty five thousand liters of stolen products as well as a well-head used as a loading point by criminals.

Wooden boats used for criminal activities and loaded with over three thousand liters of stolen crude were also Intercepted during the operation.

According to the military, constructed tanks used for storage of crude oil stolen from pipelines were also destroyed , to prevent the criminals from returning to the sites after clearance operation by the military.

The General Officer Commanding 6 division Nigerian Army Major General Jamal Abdulsalam commended the troops for their resilience as he assured them that the division under his watch would continue to sustain the ongoing operations to ensure increased oil and Gas production.
