The Abia State Government has called on the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, to include Abia in the five- member Interim Management Committee of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC that may be constituted.
The Government drew the attention of the federal government that in the recent past, Abia State was not included in the three- member Interim Management Committee, IMC, and later the five- member Committee of NDDC.
The call was contained in a press release signed by the Special Adviser to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Strategy and Planning, Dr. Iboko Imo Iboko, and made available to newsmen, in Umuahia,on Friday.
It opined that the development may be an oversight but appealed to the SGF to give necessary consideration to other oil producing state in Nigeria like Abia.
Part of the release read, “We, the Government and People of Abia State are keeping in fate that our plea and agitation will be given all necessary and kind consideration being given to other oil producing state in the country
Please, of accept our warm salutations on behalf of the Government and people of Abia State”.
Meanwhile, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, on Thursday, denied ever accusing members of the National Assembly of collecting 60 percent of the contracts awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
In a letter read on the floor of the House of Representatives during plenary by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, the former lawmaker said the only reference he made to 60 percent during his presentation before the NDDC committee a few days ago was in response to a question by a member of the committee.
