After 5-Years APGA Councillors Head to Court

The set of Councillors elected on the platform of APGA from 2014 – 2016 have gone to court on the refusal of the Anambra state govt to pay their severance allowances.

These councillors have secured the services of a prominent lawyer, Mr Femi Falana SAN against the state govt. Akelicious gathered that a team of lawyers from his Chamber are already at Awka filling court documents.

The councillors are being owed about 3.1 billion naira. Each councillor is owed over 9 million naira. The state govt has failed in the understanding reached with the councillors before the governorship election in 2017 and the last general elections.

These councillors are APGA members. They are unhappy that APGA leadership refused to intervene and compel gov Obiano to pay them. They said, they served both the party and the govt and wondered why they are being abandoned by the party’s leadership.

One of the former counscillors said, “Is it not a shame that APGA members are taking the govt to court and no party leader is intervening.’

According to the league of former councillors, they are heading to court with one of the best lawyers in the country to embarrass the APGA govt. They claimed that they have documents on what legitimately should have been paid to them when they served as counsellors and what was actually paid.

The APGA councillors are likely to defect to the opposition party in 2021 governorship election to ensure that APGA loses the guber contest, except the matter is resolved in their favour.

All the agreements reached with gov Obiano have not been respected and in 2021 governorship election, they are ready to openly work against APGA, the former councillors vowed.
