Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has sent Easter message to the people of the state. Similarly, the speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for peace and security to return to all parts of the country in the interest of development. Governor Al-Makura, in an Easter Message, also urged Nigerians to imbibe the teachings of Jesus Christ and love their neighbours as themselves. “I am indeed delighted to join our Christian brothers and sisters to commemorate this year’s Easter celebration. “We thank the Almighty God for granting us the opportunity to celebrate another Easter at a time of great promise and hope for our dear nation,” he said. Al-Makura, in statement signed by Yakubu Lamai, his director general on Communications, wished Christians and other Nigerians a happy Easter celebration and urged well-meaning Nigerians to assist the less privileged. The speaker in a press statement signed by his press secretary, Jibrin Gwamna and made available to newsmen in Lafia, quoted the speaker as advising Nigerians to reinforce the bond of brotherhood and goodneighbourliness. According to him, “The essence of Easter celebration is mainly to remember the agony, death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ who died on the cross to give salvation to mankind. “Other virtues in which Christians should imbibe include love, tolerance, forgiveness, courage and humility for the overall progress of the society,” the statement said.
