Yesterday, Nzukora Orumba paid a courtesy visit to the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Paulinus Ezeokafor at the Bishop’s Chamber, St Patrick’s Cathedral Awka.
This visit is for the progress and development of Orumba Constituency and Anambra State in general.
The delegation led by the Secretary of Nzukora Orumba, Chief Sopulu Nwafor was made up of leaders of thought, notable politicians, captains of industry and resourceful men and women who have volunteered themselves to champion the cause of political and economic emancipation of Orumba people while ensuring peaceful and equitable development and progress of Anambra State.
In his speech, Chief Sopulu thanked the Bishop for his warm reception and pleaded with him to assist Nzukora Orumba in ensuring that the next Governor of Anambra State comes from the Orumba stock. They assured him that Orumba has a capable and formidable candidate in the person of Dr Godwin Maduka(Okosisi Orumba) who incidentally is contesting for Governorship under the platform of PDP. They also notified the Bishop that Orumba as the most marginalized Constituency in the South zone is no longer comfortable with playing the observer role in the sociopolitical equation of Anambra State. They affirmed their unity and determination to stand by Dr. Maduka in his gubernatorial ambition.
In his response, Bishop Ezeokafor thanked the delegation for making the bold step in ensuring that Anambra State gets the best as Governor but reminded them about his neutral position as a religious leader. Nevertheless, he assured them that he will contribute his quota in ensuring that Orumba is no longer shortchanged in the scheme of things in our State. He prayed God to crown the good efforts of Ndi Nzukora Orumba with success.
