The women wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) earlier today received a delegation of Dr Godwin Maduka Worldwide Support Group, ably led by Barr Ifeoma Maduka Arisa. The meeting which aimed at further unveiling the man Dr Godwin Maduka to the PDP womenfolk was well attended by both LGA Women Leaders and female executive members of the party.
In her opening remarks, the Chief host of the gathering and State Woman Leader of Anambra PDP Lady Justina Nwafor commended the decision of Dr Maduka to interface with the women wing of the party, through the group she described as a powerful delegation composed of one time Commissioner of the Civil Service Commission Dr Kate Obioji, Chief Mrs Evelyn Egwuatu, Barr Ifeoma Arisa, former ASUBEB Boss Dr Mrs Ikechukwu Ijeoma.
The State Women Leader seized the opportunity to direct the womenfolk of the party to participate fully in the forthcoming voters registration exercise that will soon be conducted by the electoral umpire INEC throughout the state. She noted that victory in the November 6th gubernatorial election calls for collective effort, considering that the battle is against the ruling party.
Speaking further, the woman leader called for mass mobilization of people who have not registered already, those who have issues with previous registration, and young people that turned 18 recently, to increase voting strength of the party in preparation for the general election. She however cautioned the state electorates against feeling of complacency when there is more tasks to accomplish in view of the polls.
Dr Kate Obioji in her submission extolled the virtues and achievements of Dr Godwin Maduka, stating that she has embarked on a tour of his various projects like the High Court, Judges Quarters, The Churches, School, over 100 houses built and furnished, as well as over 40 community driven projects that transformed the former undeveloped Nkerehi to a semi-urban Umuchukwu community.
According to the former commissioner of the civil service commission, it is absolutely unbelievable that an individual could possibly undertake and execute such gigantic projects without prior ambition to vie for public office. She also expressed surprise for the degree of humility being exhibited by Okosisi Orumba whom his accessibility is second to none, despite his status as one of the world best medical practitioners.
At this juncture, the leader of the delegation Barr Ifeoma Maduka Arisa was introduced by Dr Kate Obioji as she rised and took her audience down the memory, narrating Dr Maduka’s encounter with poverty and limelight. She noted that it is evident in Dr Maduka’s character that he is God sent to Maduka’s family, a blessing to Umuchukwu community, Anambra State, Nigeria and indeed the world at large.
According to her Dr Obioji has said more than enough but there was more to all that, given that Dr Maduka has also created multiple Job opportunities, awarded scholarships and sponsored many people overseas for different schemes and endeavors. Barr Arisa added that when Dr Maduka said that he will turn the state into a country if given the mandate, he meant every word of it.
All these and more not mentioned according to the legal luminary were done by Okosisi Orumba because he had tasted and felt the negative effects of poverty, therefore decided to lift as many people as he can out of poverty. She appealed to the women and indeed the good citizens of Anambra State to resist the temptation of trading their conscience for any form of monetary inducement in the course of the primary and general elections.
The state woman leader commended the group for finding time to interact with key stakeholders of the party at the women category and asked them to extend the women’s gratitude and blessings to the Pain Doctor of international repute. She emphasized the need for women to double their effort in promoting the party at all times. Lady Justina Nwafor enjoined the women to be tolerant and avoid any form of antagonism among themselves to pave way for anticipated victory for PDP which is much easier with a more united family.
