The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) didn’t require electoral act amendment before they began electronic registration and e-voting, they also don’t need electoral amendment to transmit results electronically. While majority of Nigerians are clamouring for the introduction of electronical transmission of election results to be introduced and with the legislative arm of the government disapproving of it, the Anambra elections is one avenue that the electoral body can use to gain the confidence of Nigerians and prove to them that, with or without E-Transmission, elections can still be conducted and it will be free and fair.
One of the major reasons why lots of Nigerians are clamouring for E-Transmission, is because of the belief that it’s the best tool/machine that can be used to eliminate fraud. Sadly, a large number of the people have lost faith in the voting system and may need a lot to convince and win back their trust.
Anambra elections is a perfect avenue for that, knowing fully well, how tough the State’s governorship elections have always been. It will take a whole lot of work, credibility and honesty to achieve a free and fair elections in the state, which can is very possible. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has a lot to prove in Anambra come November 2021 and the whole Nation is surely counting on them deliver.
