-Urges them not to extort marketers
Special Adviser to Governor Obiano on Legal and Petroleum Matters, Barr. Pat. Igwebuike has inaugurated the Committee on Procurement, Pricing, Regulation and Distribution of Petroleum Products in Anambra State on behalf of the Governor. The ceremony was held at the Deputy Governor’s conference hall, Government House in Awka.
Inaugurating the fifty-eight member committee, Barr. Igwebuike charged them to diligently carry out their duties and abide strictly by the terms of reference contained in their appointment letter.
Further speaking, she urged them not to extort marketers in any guise as any body caught will be severely dealt with.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of the committee, Chief Chris Okonkwo who spoke on behalf of the members thanked Governor Willie Obiano for finding them worthy of such appointment.
He assured the Governor that they will do their job in accordance with the terms of reference and in the best interest of ndi Anambra.
Some of their terms of reference include: To ensure no unauthorized sale of petroleum products in an unlicensed locations and facilities in the state and monitor against the selling of petroleum products in unlicensed facilities by illegal filing station operators or filling stations with rebuked licenses.
Others are to monitor filling stations across the state on a daily basis against illegal increase in pump prices, adulteration, hoarding and other malpractices. Ensure that Liquefied Petroleum Gas plants are not sited around residential areas.
