The All Progressives Alliance, APC is undergoing a nationwide membership registration. It is being done in all the states across the Nation. But there is a problem
You recall our earlier publication here where we informed our members that the fresh registration being embarked on by APC was part of the agreement the new power brokers in APC reached with former president Goodluck Jonathan.
At that meeting, according to our source, Jonathan who expressed fears stated that the party structures must be dismantled as one of the conditions to defect to APC and contest the party’s primaries for presidency in 2023.
The Otuoke man was said to have stated that Bourdillon Street is in total control of APC structures especially in states where there are no APC governors. And asked the new power brokers in the party who want to draft him into the 2023 presidential election to go and do the needful.
And the men went to work.
They first extended the tenure of the Interim National Caretaker Committee headed by the governor of Yobe state by 6 months.
The second was the dissolution of all the executives of the party from zone to state, down to wards and constituted them as caretakers.
And the third was fresh membership register.
APC has a membership register that was filed with INEC when the party was registered in 2013. Apart from the one with INEC, the original APC Membership Register is in Bourdillon. Instead of upgrading and revalidating that register they opted for a fresh registration of APC members.
What it means is that the APC Membership Register hijacked by the Bourdillon is now null and void and will be used to rap suya on the streets of Lagos soonest. The fresh registration is to ensure that there is nothing left in Bourdillon before 2023.
However, Tinubu is no longer comfortable with the ongoing decimation and he has voiced out. He first spoke through his political ally, Chief Bisi Akande, who condemned the setting up of the party’s caretaker committee and the ongoing national registration and revalidation exercise.
Chief Akande described the exercise as wasteful.
Yesterday, Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu said he endorsed the statement of Chief Akande.
With Tinubu condemning the ongoing APC Membership Registeration, the party will be in for a serious crisis. Those who want to impose former President Goodluck Jonathan on the party when it is the turn of Ndigbo in 2023 is not doing him any good.
2023 is for Igbo presidency, both APC and PDP must zone its tickets to southeast. Jonathan must resist any attempt to use him against Igbo interest.
