About 2,000 members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has dumped party for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Urban Ward 11, Umuahia North local Government Area of Abia State.
The APGA Chairman Umuahia Urban Ward II Mr. Obinna Ibekwem, who led the party Executive and members into APC, said that APGA died in Abia State the day its leader Dr. Alex Otti left for the APC.
He explained that himself and over 2000 of their members could not afford to remain in a dead party hence, they chose to pitch their tent with the APC, which he described as the only hope for Abia’s restoration.
Ibekwem promised that they will work with the APC at all levels to ensure that power is taken from the PDP in the State come 2023.
Recieving the APGA decampees, the Umuahia Urban ward II APC chairman, Okechukwu Nnaoma, flanked by other notable members of the party, assured them of equal right and level playing ground.

He urged them to be committed to the cause of the APC both in the state and at the federal level, and assured them that come 2023, APC will take power from the PDP in the state.
Hon. Maduakolam Adighibe, the APC Candidate for Umuahia central State Constituency in the 2019 general elections, commended the defectors for taking the right step, while explaining that APC runs an open door policy.
He encouraged them to strive for peace and oder in the party at all times, and promised to host them at the Ijere foundation.
