A combined contingent of Nigerian Army and Police had reportedly swooned on worshippers in a church on Owerri road area of Asata Enugu in the early hours of Sunday, May 30 ,2021 agents the backdrop of the Biafra heroes remembrance day holding today but slated to hold in the whole of Biafra land via a sit-at-home directive by the IPOB leader,Nazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The worshippers were arrested, searched and herded off to an undisclosed location.
There was not altercation or resistance the worshippers were unarmed and no weapons or arsenals were found on them.
According to eye witness account, the worshippers, mostly young men, were being held on suspicion of belonging to IPOB even unconfirmed sources that some of them belonged to the Biafra Zionist Movement,BZM.
There has been palpable fear in all Igboland Enugu inclusive ahead of the sit at home order by IPOB.
Efforts to get confirmation from police and military sources were not successful and the time of filing this report,those detainees were yet to regain their freedom.
.MASSOB hails churches for honoring Biafra.
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has expressed gratitude to churches in Biafra land for observing its call for prayers and special mass.
It said the prayer was for the restoration of Biafra and remembrance of fallen heroes that died for Biafra.
MASSOB reiterated that Monday, May 31, 2021 will mark the climax of this year’s Biafra anniversary celebration with a sit at home exercise, describing it as an honor to the father land.
The group’s leader, Uche Madu in a statement on Sunday said the exercise will serve as a unanimous massage to the international communities that the people of Biafra speaks with one voice.
The statement said, “MASSOB specifically express our heartfelt gratitude to the Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian, Assemblies of God, Apostolic, Grace of God churches and others we may not mention their names.
We also observed that some Yoruba owned churches who their state and zonal Overseers are yorubas did not allow their Igbo members to honour Biafra.
“The non violence struggle for actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra is not meant for only pro Biafra organizations but all Biafrans.
“MASSOB condemns the Nigeria military intimidating projections against our people at their checkpoints, barracks and other illegal detention cells.”
