Air Vice Marshal (AVM) James Gwanii has assumed duty as the new Air Officer Commanding (AOC) of the Headquarters of Special Operations Command of the Nigerian Air Force, Bauchi.
Gwani at the taking over ceremony on Friday in Bauchi reiterated his commitment to face the security challenges in North West and North East regions with vigour.
He assured that efforts would be put in place to create an enabling environment for peace that would pave way for people, to go about their normal business without molestation.
Gwani stressed that to resolve security situation in the country a lot was required from them to add value and justify the huge investment of Federal Government on the force.
The new AOC promised to continue on the gains of the former AOC and build on his achievements.
AVM Gwani until his appointment was the Air Force Commander in Maiduguri.
Earlier, AVM Napoleon Bali the outgoing AOC urged Gwani to focus on restoring peace in Zamfara and North East as well as the host state, Bauchi.
“You have the task of tackling banditry, kidnapping and insurgency in Zamfara, Katsina and the North East, ” he said.
