No fewer than 37 persons have reportedly been killed while about 150 others were abducted following a deadly attack on Dutsin Dan Ajiya village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The attack, which occurred late last night, has thrown the community into mourning, with residents describing it as one of the most devastating assaults in recent times.
The attack comes just hours after the Zamfara State Government donated several security assets — including armoured vehicles and surveillance drones — to security agencies operating in the state. The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, was in attendance during the presentation of the equipment.
Anka Local Government Area has been one of the flashpoints of banditry in Zamfara, with repeated incidents of mass killings and kidnappings recorded over the past few years.
