Chelsea have finally announced the signature of Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen for a reported £62m. The midfield signs a 5 year deal at Stamford Bridge and becomes the latest recruit of an exciting summer for the Blues.
It ends a long saga which really picked up steam in May, as the extent of the coronavirus’ effects began to be felt, and Havertz other options dried up.
A player who might in another year have been going to Bayern Munich of Real Madrid for £100m is now coming to us for significantly less, and it’s easy to see why the figure upstairs at the club thought this was too good an opportunity to miss out on.
With just a week until the season starts it will be a race against time to get him ready to play against Bournemouth.
Chelsea fans will be counting the hours before they get to see their new hero on the pitch.
