Chelsea recorded their second draw of the season as they played a surprising 2-2 draw with newly-promoted Premier League side Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues were 2 goals up before the break but they couldn’t preserve the lead to the end of the game as they gave the visitors the chance to salvage a point from the encounter.

There was a slight surprise change in Frank Lampard’s starting XI prior to the game as academy product Fikayo Tomori was given the nod to start at the center-back position ahead of experienced Christensen.

The Nigeria-eligible youngster put up a fine display throughout the time he spent on the field of play, and the inexperienced manager has shared his thoughts on the player’s overall performance.

According to Lampard after the encounter, Tomori is a talented youngster who deserves to feature from the start against Sheffield United at the expense of other established defenders in the team.

Lampard, who is missing Antonio Rudiger’s services due to injury, was impressed with the Tomori’s show of courage despite featuring in his first appearance in Chelsea starting XI.

“I think Tomori played very well for me last year and is training at a very high level. There is competition at centre-back, he deserved to play and I thought he played well. It was just a choice.” he said to reporters.

Tomori played 84 minutes of the encounter, he will hope to remain in the Blues first XI when the League resume after the upcoming international break
