A religious-based NGO, Harvest Family Outreach, on Monday organised a funfair for 100 children at Maraban Rido, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state to celebrate Children’s Day.
Some of the activities include; memory verse presentations, songs, games, puppetry, bible quiz, special prayer for Nigeria and refreshments.
The Coordinator of the NGO, Ms. Chioma Odili, explained that the funfair was organized to give the children a sense of belonging as they mark their special day.
She said that such activities help in building the minds of children towards becoming responsible citizens and contribute to national development in the future.
“Most times we organize activities to have fun as adult, but mostly forgets that children need to play and feel loved more than we do.
“This day is specially recognized to focus attention on the place of children in the society, highlight their needs and how to better protect and nurture them.
“So, we decided to make the day special for them by ensuring that we put a smile on their faces and remind them that although we might be busy sometimes; we still care,’’ she said.
Odili lamented over the increasing rate of crime in the country, stressing the need for concerted efforts towards remolding the attitude of children for the good of the nation.
“We have to consistently remind them of the consequences of wrong doings and how to say ‘I am sorry’, make amends and walk in the right direction.
“As parents, we have to show them love because Gods love for children is intense, no matter what they do, God’s love is always there,” she said.
