There is confusion over the state of health of acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abiola Ajimobi.
A short statement on the Facebook page of the party had stated that Ajimobi died from complications related to Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Thursday.
But the former Oyo State governor’s media aide, Bolaji Tunji, has refuted the report.
The APC had in a now deleted post on its Facebook page announced that Ajimobi died after battling with COVID-19.
The party had said, “Former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi has died at the age of 70.
“Ajimobi was sick after testing positive for coronavirus. He was previously on coma but was reported to have left coma in the past few days.
“A former Senator, he governed Oyo State for eight years and is currently the APC NWC-recognised National Chairman. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!”
But the acting APC chairman’s aide was quick to refute the report in a terse statement on Facebook.
“Kindly disregard all the rumours, just rumours. In all, we remain prayerful,” said Tunde.
Ajimobi was last week named the acting chairman of the APC after the party’s embattled chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, was suspended by the court.
