As part of his effort to assist in cushioning the harsh effect of post COVID-19 hard times, Dr Godwin Maduka foundation has conceived another novel idea aimed at touching the lives of tricycle and okada operators in Anambra state.

Keke-palli is a short form of Keke palliative, which aims at giving some litres of fuel everyday to Keke operators. The Idea behind the programme is to put more money in the pockets of these operators and pull the vulnerable ones out of unnecessary pressure of meeting up with financial obligations at difficult times as this.

About 20,000 tricycle and okada operators in the state are targeted in the first phase of implementation of this idea. The keke-palli concept will run intially as a pilot project in about 12 major towns in Anambra State before being extended to the other parts of the state.

According to one of the coordinators of Dr Godwin Maduka foundation, Mr Chike , this is a time to think outside the box in the effort to reach out to the vulnerable. “We must not begin and end up with just sharing food stuffs. We should also conceive ideas that will suit these artisans and small enterprises directly so they can maximize profit and stay in business. The whole idea is to lessen pressure on these keke & okada operators and put more money their pockets.
