A socio-political group, the Estako Solidarity Forum has commended National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Lanre Issa-Onilu, for exposing plots by the National Working Committee to announce already written results if direct primaries is allowed in Edo State.
Issa-Onilu had said in one of the national dailies, “The courtesy to allow the local players make input is part of our (NWC) way of ensuring the smooth participation of everyone. At the end of the day, the buck stops at our desk . As it is now, direct primary is what is best for the party in Edo.”
It said Issa-Onilu comments clearly suggested that votes of APC members at the direct primaris would not count.
Coordinator of the group, Comrade Seidu Momoh, charged Issa-Onilu to explain what he met by “at the end of the day, the buck stops at our desk to ensure that we do what is in the best interest of the party”.
Comrade Momoh stated that the buck of party primary whether direct or indirect stopped at the field and not the desk of National Chairman of the party.
Momoh said Issa-Onilu comments confirmed fears raised by Edo Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, that the results of the yet to be conducted direct primary has been written by Oshiomhole.
