The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday said it is doubtful if the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) can conduct a credible election in the September 19 governorship election in Edo state.
Speaking with Daily Independent on the readiness of the party for the election, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party’s National Publicity Secretary said the PDP is confident that the people of the Edo state who are tired of the political crisis the All Progressives Congress (APC) has plunged the state into are looking up to the PDP as the viable alternative.
While calling on the people of the state to defend their votes, the party also called on INEC and the security agencies to ensure that the sanctity of the electoral process is respected.
“We are concerned as a political party on whether INEC a free, fair and credible elections. We are also worried on whether the sanctity of the electoral process will be respected”.
“However, as a political party, we are confident that the people of Edo state are tired of the crisis which the APC has plunged their state into and as such, they will defend their votes and as such vote for the PDP and whoever emerges as our candidate” he said.
