It’s no longer news that Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State ‘ll exit office on May 29, 2023. Some Prominent Politicians and Seasoned Technocrats in the Coal-city State are already warming up to take over Governance from Ugwuanyi come 2023. Notable among these Governorship Hopefuls are
1. Hon. Patrick Asadu (PDP)
The 56years-old Asadu is a Medical Doctor turned Politician who began his political career as Chairman of Igbo-eze Local Government Council, he later served as Commissioner between 2003 and 2007. Hon. Asadu is currently a Fourth-term Lawmaker representing Nsukka/Igbo-eze South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly under the PDP platform.
2. Senator Ayogu Eze (APC)
Eze was the 2019 APC Governorship Candidate in Enugu State. He was a formerly a Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during which he served as National Ex-officio Member(1998 – 1999), Two-term Commissioner (1999 – 2006), Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District at the National Assembly (2007 – 2015).
3. Professor Bartholomew Nnaji (PDP)
The 64years-old Nnaji is a Seasoned Technocrat. he is a trained Engineer, Academician and Innovator. Nnaji served as Minister of Science and Technology from 1992 to 1993. He returned to the Federal Executive Council in 2011 and served as Minister of Power from July 2011 to August 2012.
4. Senator Gilbert Nnaji (PDP)
The 54years-old Nnaji is the immediate past Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, a position he held from June 2015 to June 2019. Prior to his Election into the Senate, He has previously served as a Two-term House of Representatives Member for Enugu East/Isi-uzo Federal Constituency (2003 – 2011).
5. Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi (PDP)
Ubosi, 50 is a Third-term Lawmaker representing Enugu East Urban Constituency at the Enugu State House of Assembly, He has been the Speaker of the House since June 2015. The Umuchigbo-born Politician was a One-time Financial Secretary of the PDP in Enugu State, a position he occupied between 2009 and 2011.
