Exco Decides: Imo State Govt Frowns At Non-Compliance With The Executive Order On Wearing Of Face Masks


The Imo State Government has seriously frowned at the non-compliance with the wearing of Face mask, one of the Executive Orders against the COVID-19 pandemic in Imo State.

This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba who further warned that the Executive order that made the wearing of facr masks compulsory, is very much in effect.

“Henceforth, the relevant security operatives are going to be empowered to enforce the Wearing of face mask in public”. Emelumba warned.

He also revealed that watching the trend of the pandemic, it is again at the stage of resurgence and that Imo does not want to be caught napping.

The Commissioner also disclosed that the council deliberated on the reopening of tertiary institutions owned by the state, and promised that the date of their commencement will be announced soon to NDI-IMO.

Hon. Emelumba also added that the Council is happy with the Federal University of Science and Technical College cited in Umuaka, Imo State courtesy of the Federal Government and the goodwill of Gov. Hope Uzodimma.

The Council commended President Buhari for graciously approving the Federal Institution and Governor Uzodimma, for attracting the Institution in Imo State.

The Commissioner further assured Imo people that the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is progressing as community testing is still ongoing, and the rate of infection is still very low.

He however stressed the need for Imo people to adhere strictly to all the COVID-19 protocols especially the wearing of face masks.
