Still in thanksgiving for a brand new year, and as with the attitude of gratitude, the Women Ezi-Anam have prayed God to bless one it’s benefactors who has continued to add value to their lives. The prayers for a fruitful new year and warm wishes were rendered at a charity outreach organized by Akalaka Onye na edu ya Foundation on December the 28th 2021.
Akalaka Foundation, a non-profit organization courtesy of Chief Bobmanuel Chukwuemeka Okonmah an illustrious son of Umudora Okpalaukwu Anam as with it’s yearly charity outreach to widows and less privileged women of the Town touched lives with the distribution of bags of rice, wrappers and cash gifts, heralding a cheery year end for the women.
Speaking on the relevance and inspiration behind the outreach, Mr. Okonmah noted that the project has been a yearly ritual for three years running and was inspired by the charitable legacy of his late Mother who was also buried on the 28th of December years ago.
Thanking God for the success of the event, Chief Okonmah revealed the organization earlier got a list of 150 beneficiaries from Women leaders accross the villages but was overwhelmed when more than two hundred Women showed up. He affirmed that his fulfilment lies with the provision of extra to ensure all the women left his home with their gifts.
In his remarks, Honorable Slyvester Orji-Okafor the Transition Chairman of Anambra West local Government Area commended the efforts of Chief Okonmah aimed at giving back to the community.
Calling on fellow youths to emulate the Intiative, Honorable Okafor hinted that he is most pleased a youth could come up with such a project.
He prayed God to continue to bless Chief Okonmah for the sustainability of the charity program.
Magerate Jideani and Elizabeth Nnabueke beneficiaries of program who spoke to Newsmen affirmed the outreach has been running for years now. They prayed God to bless their benefactor in the new year so he can continue to do more. Expressing joy about the exercise they revealed they not Only collected their bags of rice, wrappers and cash gifts but also ate and had lots to drinks.
Highlights of the event was refreshments, singing and dancing by the women while eulogizing their benefactor including prayers and warm wishes.
