SETS TO PUT IN PLACE A COMMITTEE TO WORK ON THE CIVIL SERVICE PROMOTION
Imo State Governor, His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, today received the new leadership of IMO State Chapter of the National Labour Congress (NLC) at the State Exco Chambers, Owerri.
The conflict of interest exhibited by the defunct state leadership of the union due to its irregular constitution, severed the synergy expected between the state government and workers. The defunct leadership constituted of retires whom are now partisan politicians. Several efforts by the Shared Prosperity administration of His Excellency towards a harmonious relationship proved abortive due to their political status of opposition.
In his address to the new state leadership of the union, the Governor recalled the deplorable state of the Imo State Civil Service prior to resumption of office and his efforts to return it to its past glory which included the renovation of the civil service complex; provision of water and electricity; the new vehicles to the permanent secretaries; coaster buses to convey Imo workers to and fro their work places and homes for free; the automation of the civil service payment scheme he observed was monumentally fraudulent and much more.
He expressed satisfaction at the new imo State labour leaders that is willing to partner and work with him for the good of the civil service. The Governor reiterated the implementation of the new minimum wage starting this January 2021.
He further disclosed that the Imo state government will set up a committee to look into the places of none promotion of civil servants as investigation reports showed that the civil service promotion of 2004 was done in 2014, added that this impedes the performance level of workers.
“I am here to right all the wrongs and ensure that workers are promoted as at when due…Go and tell workers that am one of them and I am here to serve them to the greater Glory of God” Uzodimma said
