Heavy security as Court rules on El-Zakzaky’s bail application

Security around Kaduna State High Court will be beefed up on Monday as the court rules on the bail application of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, seeking permission to travel abroad for medical attention.

This assurance was given on Sunday by the Kaduna State Police Command.

Justice Darius Khobo will rule on the bail application few days after the Federal Government obtained a court permission to pronounce the group, otherwise known as Shi’ittes, as a terrorist organization.

The Federal High Court through Justice Nkeonye Maha granted the order and designated the activities of the IMN in any part of the country “as acts of terrorism and illegality.”

The Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo, on Sunday assured of safety saying, “as part of the strategy put in place for a smooth process of the court trial, there will be traffic diversion in the following areas: Independence way, Bida Road, All roads leading to Ibrahim Taiwo Road,”

However, the group rejected the court order pronouncing them a terrorist organisation, describing it as “fallacious”

The group has also, at different times, staged protests over the continued detention of their leader with the latest leading to the death of a police officer and a National Youth Scheme Corps member (NYSC), Precious Owolabi.
