Imo State House of Assembly, yesterday passed a motion to look into the circumstances that led to the fire incident at the Imo Airport. The motion which was raised at the floor of the House of Assembly by the member representing Isu State Constituency, Mrs Ngozi Obiefule, was seconded by Mr. Ikechukwu Amuka, representing Ideato South. After the deliberations, the Speaker of the House, Acho Ihim set up a committee of five members led by Mr. Obinna Egu, representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency. He said the committee has till April 16, 2019 to report back to the House. Other members of the committee included Ngozi Obiefule (Isu) Ken Agbim (Ahiazu) Chukwuemeka Lloyd (Owerri North) and Ukoha Bruno (Ezinihitte). According to the speaker, the committee has the responsibility, “To visit the airport to ascertain the extent of damages; to assess the cause of the fire incident and get back to the House. “The committee should arrange the visit to the airport and get back to the House and present their findings on the 16 day of April 2019.”
