-independent petroleum marketers strike – matters leading to it
Today, the Imo State chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers embarked on a strike action across the state following a court judgment over the excessive power display by the previous administration of Rochas Okorocha.
Quite absolute, government is a continuum, however it’s appropriate that the genesis of every issue, such as this, be identified in order to adequately and accurately apportion blame where necessary.
Suffice to state the fact that the present administration of His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma had been in limbo with respect to this case.
The Government, however is not oblivious of the fact that an action is required to avert untold hardship on the people of Imo State as a result of this strike action. In order to properly explore all legal options and apply appropriate measures, the state Government had appealed the judgment of the trial court and as law abiding citizens, parties to the suit ought to stay execution pending the outcome of the appeal.
However, the Independent Petroleum Marketers decided to take laws into their hands by seeking an enforcement of matter before the court – an action that would only create hardship to the people.
Questions I keep asking myself since today includes;
-Why did the owner of the fueling station wait until now to demand for payment after court judgement several years ago ?
- Is there a force behind this strike action ?
-Why is is that every time Government commences its recovery agenda, forces will regroup to fight and distract the government of today?
The above questions should give us a clear view of what’s going on.
While, the government would continue to dialogue and resolve the issues, the Independent Petroleum Marketers are advised to sheath their sword, as government is committed to resolution of the lingering issue.
