The crisis rocking Obosi traditional council in Idemili North local government area of Anambra state deepens as group once again calls out the traditional ruler of the town Igwe A.C Iweka over attempts to secretly confer a revered chieftaincy title on a non indigene of the town.
In the report which has gone viral on social media a group (Obosi Reform Movement) noted that the particular chieftaincy title (Ndichie Obosi) is the highest traditional title in Obosi, conferred only on revered sons of Obosi.
The group expressing sadness says chieftaincy titles have become cash and carry under the watch of A.C Iweka.
This latest twist is coming barely few months after the Obosi cabinet chiefs called out the traditional ruler over allegations of fraud, one of which was a N22,000,000 compensation fund by the federal government.
The statement reads

IGWE OBOSI HAS SWORN TO DESTROY OBOSI ANCIENT TRADITION AND CUSTOM FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY AS HE HAS STARTED THE PROCESS TO INSTALL AN NDICHIE A REVERED CHIEFTAINCY TITLE IN OBOSI TO A NON INDIGENE OF OBOSI AND WITHOUT THE IYASELE OBOSI (TRADITIONAL PRIME MINISTER OF OBOSI)
NDI ICHIE TITLE IN OBOSI NOW GOES TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER, AN AMULU NA UNO AND NWADIANI WITHOUT IKWUNNE.
It seems that the last in row of abuse of office by AC Iweka, Igwe Obosi is yet to be heard.
In Igwe A.C Iweka’s excessive greed and love for money and to maintain his expensive and unaffordable irresponsible and bad social habits, he invited one Chibuzor Izuorah from Rivers State whose mother is from Obosi to be conferred an Ndichie Obosi title. Igwe Iweka has also further solicited from Chibuzor (a business man in Port Harcourt) for financial assistance in one of the appealed cases where he, Igwe was fined N55,000,000 in jugment for the murder of one Anekwu.
Chibuzor Izuorah told Igwe Obosi that he would love to assist on the ground that he will support his desire for Ndi Ichie Obosi.
It must be noted at this stage that Mr Chibuzor had approached the Ndichie Obosi about three years ago to be installed as an Ndichie Obosi.
Ndichie Obosi rejected his application on the grounds that he is not an Obosi indigene. Chibuzor is a Nwadiani (His mother and not his father is from Obosi). Hence, he was given just an honorary title of Onwa Obosi, a title which can be given to non indigenes.
AC Iweka realising that Izuorah still has the ambition to become Ndichie demanded for N10,000,000 from him.
Chibuzor Izuorah being a business man and not as rich as he wants people to believe, bargained to pay N5,000,000. N3,000,000, before Ime Uke and then N2,000,000 at installation. Igwe Iweka in his usual desperation quickly accepted.
Igwe Iweka then directed a desperate Odu of Obosi, Chief Osakwe ( a man who could not repay N11,000,000 he fraudulently took from Obosi Micro finance bank and whose property was recently repossessed and auctioned for N7,000,000) to convince the other Ndichies and to perform Uke ceremony.
Unfortunately, Igwe and his criminal partner Odu Obosi could only convince five out of about 30 Ndichies to accept the bribe.
The following people were therefore paid as follows in order to be present.
Odu Obosi N1,000,000
Agba Obosi N200,000
Onowu Obosi N500,000
Uzzi Obosi N300,000
Ogidi Obosi a retired but gullible civil servant was blackmailed that his wife serving as head of Ndi Enyi Nwanyi will be removed if he does not attend the fake and so called Uke ceremony.
At this stage it must be noted that the Uke ceremony for any Ndichie or Eze Obosi can only be performed by the Iyasele of Obosi. The exception to when this ceremony can be performed by another Ndichie who is not the Iyasele is ONLY when an Iyasele passes on and another Iyasele has not been installed. In this case the most senior can perform the ceremony.
Installing an Ndichie is not an emergency as such an Iyasele while alive MUST perform the ceremony. In an unusual situation if an Iyasele has passed on before an Igwe passes on, a new Iyasele has to be installed before an Igwe is installed so that the Iyasele can perform the ceremony. The position of Iyasele and an Ndichie in Obosi is sacred.
Furthermore, the most senior Ndichie is Adazie Obosi and not Odu.
The Iyasele of Obosi is alive but Igwe Iweka knowing that Iyasele will not agree to perform such an abominable act waited for him to travel back to the USA two weeks ago so that he could do his business with Odu Obosi.
This information about payment only bursted out when it was discovered by Chibuzor that he was swindled by AC Iweka, Eze Obosi because of the very poor presence of Ndi Ichie Obosi, especially when he was promised that prominent Ndichies particularly Iyasele obosi, Adazie Obosi, Owelle Obosi, Ide Obosi, Oboli Obosi, Izoma Obosi, Onyaa Obosi etc would be present hence the agreement to pay N5,000,000.
Chibuzor or Chy Byke as his friends address him now knows that despite the monies he paid to Igwe Obosi that he cannot be an Ndichie Obosi as he cannot be installed without Iyasele Obosi.
Following this latest development, it is now obvious that Obosi culture has been brought to the lowest standard under the watch of Igwe AC Iweka such that any person could use money to buy the highest title of Ndi Ichie Obosi. The Igwe Obosi that is expected to promote Obosi culture is using the same position to destroy Obosi heritage because of greed.
