Spokesman to the Nigerian President Femi Adesina’ says Nigerians should thank President Muhammadu Buhari for his fight against insecurity.
Adesina said Buhari had played a key role in ensuring the safety of lives and property of the Nigerian people, although he made it clear that there were security challenges in many parts of the country, especially in the northwest.
The presidential spokesman made the remarks on Sunday during an interview on a Channels political program.
He explained that not only Nigeria, but many other countries in the world were facing security challenges.
Before coming to power, President Buhari promised Nigerians security, but security problems persisted in parts of the country, with kidnappings for ransom and cattle rustling rampant.
Last week, gunmen stormed the Kankara Secondary School in Katsina State, abducting more than 300 students, but they were later rescued.
Also, on Saturday night, gunmen abducted students, Islamic students returning from a Maulid Party, but were rescued on Sunday after clashes with gunmen.
Kidnappings for ransom are common in Nigeria, especially in the northwestern part of the country.
