Political actors have already began making noise with regard to the 2023 presidential elections which is just by the corner, while some are of the opinion that the elections be zoned to the south, others are of the opinion that it should be free for all.
One name that keeps coming up anytime we’re discussing 2023 elections is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Even though he is yet to break silence concerning the election, it is believed that the former vice President might still contest again.
Recall that in the 2019 presidential elections, Atiku and his running mate Peter Obi contested and lost the elections to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
Since the 2023 election fall at a time when major stakeholders are calling for Igbo presidency, I’m of the opinion that Atiku should pull out of the race and support his running mate Peter Obi who is also being tipped to contest.
If we’re talking about quality and qualifications, Peter Obi is very qualified to handle the task as President but if we take a look at the level of popularity, he’s not so popular and that’s where the support of Atiku Abubakar is going to come in handy.
It’s not a must that you must become Nigeria’s President and after a lot of trials, I think it’s high time that Atiku relax because if he still shows interest in contesting, I hardly see any PDP candidate who can defeat him in the primary election.
