Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro has emerged as the Secretary General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Isiguzoro was the immediate past President, Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Worldwide.
This followed election conducted by Prince Richard Ozobu-led electoral committee in Enugu under strict observance of COVID-19 protocol.
Engr. Chidi Ibeh, a former commissioner in Imo State and Chief Uche Okwukwu from Rivers State were elected the President General and Deputy President General of the highest Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Speaking with journalists in Enugu shortly after the election during the weekend, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Prince Richard Ozobu lauded the conduct of the contestants and members.
“We promised to give Ndigbo credible election and that is what we have done.
“A new leadership of Ohanaeze has emerged and it was in compliance with the constitution of Ohanaeze. We met all the requirements.
“We are still collating results for other seats, but the key leadership positions are ready. It started late last Friday night and was concluded Saturday morning. Many delegates participated through zoom because of ban on large gathering owing to COVID-19.
“The rest of the National Ohanaeze Executive election results will be released after further verification to ensure that the constitutional provisions were fully met,”Ozobu stated.
