A political group under the aegis of Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked an aspirant in the Saturday botched state congress of the party, Dr. Adetokunbo Pearse, to withdraw a statement where he was alleged to have said that Chief Bode George, former deputy national chairman of the party was responsible for the disruption of the election.

The group in a press statement signed by its chairman, Olatunde Johnson, also demanded that Pearse apologises to George within 14 days, failure of which will compel it to sue him (Pearse) for defamation of character.

The statement reads in part, “Our attention has been drawn to a publication wherein one of the chairmanship aspirants, Dr Tokunbo Pearse in the botched congress of 16th October, 2021 attributed the disruption of the congress to Chief Bode George.

In the publication, Pearse said that the disruption was immediately after Chief George approached Senator Abiodun Olujimi who was at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) ground distributing the ballot papers to delegates,” it reads.
