The clampdown against members of Eastern Security (ESN) Network in Orlu Imo State days after soldiers reportedly engaged the vigilantes in a fierce clash. The security outfit operating under the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has witnessed a number of confrontations by the Nigerian Military and Police despite security challenges ravaging the Northern part of Nigeria. ESN, according to the group’s commander, Nnamdi Kanu, in a statement via its Media spokesperson, Emma Powerful, would be in charge of fishing out criminals involved in rapping and killing innocent Nigerians within Southeast rural communities. Kanu noted, the safety outfit will operate lawfully like their counterparts in the South West (Amotekun) and North (Hisbah) in bid to halt further destruction of lives and properties in the region. However, both states and federal governments have subsequently displayed worries over the development and have since taken major efforts to bring the operators to their knees. In viral footages obtained by Akelicious indicates the security operatives of the Nigerian forces have continued to raid operation base mainly in Orlu Imo State where ESN are sheltered. A number of soldiers were captured shooting sporadically which, may have led to a loss of lives. The police are yet to speak on the sketchy developing but ugly events as at the time of filing this report. Meanwhile, Akelicious reported earlier that some security personnel abandoned their patrol vehicles after engaging ESN vigilantes in a gun dual in Orlu a few days ago.
