Masquerade Join Anambra State Govt To Fight Covid-19


Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has relaxed the coronavirus lockdown restrictions imposed on the state and has asked churches to commence full activities. Obiano announced that markets are likely to reopen next week and churches will be able to resume full activities, but added that worshippers must wear face masks and observe the World Health Organisation’s guidelines during services and all food and household goods markets are open
Movement within the state is not restricted but state boundaries remain closed.The mounting of taskforce of which Masquerades joined at various entrance points across the state to checkmate the influx of people from neighbouring states with confirmed cases, which remains one of the effective measures to control and limit the profuse spread of this dreaded virus from nearby states. A brief interaction with the Team of masquerades notified why they decided to join such service which is the wonderful things the Governor has been doing to the people of Anambra State since the pandemic emerged. The brief interaction also proved to us that they were equal to the task .The helping hand the so called masquerades rendered to state government as their own way of showing concern in order to control the pandemic from getting into the state severely, also explained the fact that the fight against this virus must not be left in the hands of the government alone. But Individuals and communities must corroborate with the government to secure every entrance point in the state.
