Ndu-Igbo United Forum (NUF) Worldwide wishes to appreciate the courage and audacity of our dear daughter Senator Uche Ekwunife on the above subject matter. This amazon dared where others couldn’t. She courageously drew attention of the Senate leadership to the anomaly and error of omission or commission of not having Southeast representative(s) in the Board of NCC. We appreciate Senator Rochas Okorocha for eloquently supporting Senator Ekwunife.
NUF can’t subscribe to any argument that it was an oversight to neglect the Igbos in a constitutional issue as that appointment. We are too important to be ignored over such matters as enshrined in the Act establishing National Communication Commission. While appreciating our worthy Leaders and courageous representatives, we urge others that have platforms to speak out when the need arises not to hesitate. May we remind our representatives that elections are over and as such they must settle down for business of transparent and credible representation.
However, NUF will at some point demand accountability records from all elected Leaders of Southeast extraction and it will be the basis for election or reelection. The era of bench warming or ludicrous excuses are over as we place premium on performance.
As directed by the Senate President while ruling on Ada Igbo Senator Ekwunife’s point of order, let the needful be done with utmost dispatch before the inauguration to avoid avoidable issues while hoping that it doesn’t end on the elevated platform of the Senate. The Senate President and Senate Clerk should ensure that justice is done accordingly.
May we reassure government at all levels of our support for transparency and good governance as we are opposed to every form of oppression and suppression. One of our avowed aims is protection of Igbo interest and unity in a non violent manner far from being interpreted as cowardice.
Mazi Agodi KANU
Secretary General.
