A socio-political pressure group, Edo First for Growth (EFG) has reacted to the constitution of the National Campaign Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Edo State governorship election billed for September, 2020.
Spokesperson of the group, Amedu Yusuf, while reacting to the news on Thursday said the APC campaign committee headed by Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje cannot save Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu from imminent defeat at the polls.
The Spokesperson said aside the issues bothering on the illegitimacy of Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s candidacy, there were also undeniable issues concerning his N700 million fraud case being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
He said these issues make Ize-Iyamu unsuitable for the office of the governor of Edo State and any smart party would treat him like a plague.
The group noted that many of the persons in the campaign committee are men of questionable integrity who are also products of godfatherism, a system majority if Edo people have resolved to banish from their political mission.
Amedu wondered why the APC cannot in good conscience honourably withdraw from the guber contest since it has no credible candidate. It said Mr. Ize-Iyamu was a problematic choice that Edo people would not have running their affairs.
He said all efforts that may be expended on the Ize-Iyamu for governorship project will end up in futility. He further stated that Edo people were more alert than ever before and will not give in to any joker by the national leadership of APC to foist a rejected politician that is out to pilfer the Edo commonwealth on them.
