In line with the official memos from the Board of Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, with reference no CDCFIB/NSCDC/D/S/CORR/506/VOL.1/36 of 23rd July, 2020 and CDCFIB/NSCDC/D/S/CORR/506/VOL136 of same date conveying the Honourable Minister’s approval for the promotion of 14 Commandants to Assistant Commandant General of Corps and 44 Deputy Commandants to Commandants of Corps as released by the Deputy Commandant General in charge of Administrations Adamu Soja Saddabs.
The decoration of the newly promoted officers was made via virtual platform, while the Honourable Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola was represented by Alhaji Ado Jaafar, Commissioner at the Board (CDCFIB) in charge of Appointment, Promotion and Discipline to decorate the senior officers at the Headquarters in line with Covid-19 guidelines of social distancing.
The Commandant General of the Corps Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu charged the newly promoted officers to see their new ranks as ‘’a new challenge, believing that to whom much is given much is expected, ‘’therefore, for having sailed through the hurdle and been decorated today, they should put in their best by justifying the new ranks wherever they are posted to.
According to him, a lot of factors were taken into consideration, especially availability of vacancy, quota system among others, stating that the Corps mandate must be executed to the later, noting that the mandate is expanding rapidly.
However, the representative of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Ado Jaafar said he appreciated all that were able to scale through this rigorous exercise and are decorated today, because he was part of the team that conducted the exercise and it was not an easy task.
In his advice to the newly decorated Assistant Commandant Generals, he stressed that it’s not easy to grow through the ranks to the Managerial level. Therefore both the ACG’s and Commandants should make discipline, humility, hard work and loyalty to the constituted authorities vis a viz their service a watch word.
He also challenged the young officers to learn from the experience of the older ones thereby congratulating the Commandant General Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu for his doggedness in repositioning the Corps, fighting for the personnel welfare, building new office complexes in states, purchasing and distributing both operational and official vehicles.
He noted that there is sanity in the Corps as it grows older and assured personnel that there will be no more stagnation in the Corps as promotion will be conducted regularly.
The Commandant General, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, appreciated the Hon. Minister of Interior and the representative for the support to the Corps and re-echoed on the issues of loyalty and discipline in order to move the Corps onward.
