Ohanaeze hails Buhari's gesture

An Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, has described the reopening of Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, as a true affirmation of President Muhammadu Buhari’s unparalleled love for the Igbo nation.

Ohanaeze said the upgrading of the Airport has exposed various deceits of past democratic regimes and its agents to paint the All Progressives Congress, APC, as sectional in distribution of social amenities.

OYC, while reacting to the reopening of the Enugu International Airport, in a press release signed by its President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike, on Sunday.

AKELICIOUS reports that the airport was shut down last year for a major repair.

The project led to the expansion of the runway from one to three kilometres.

However, Ohanaeze Youth, berated the suit before Abuja High Court, filed by Southern Leaders Forum, against Buhari-led federal government

“OYC wish to categorically state that we have the mandate of Igbo elders to persuade those that unjustly used Ohanaeze Ndigbo name, without proper consultative approval from the various stakeholders to withdraw their signatories to the ongoing suit against President Muhammadu Buhari which was initiated by the Middle-belt/Southern Leaders Forum before an Abuja High Court. Ohanaeze Elders Council had notified the legal team to do the needful.

“The decision to withdraw Ohanaeze Ndigbo name from the legal suit is in accordance with Igbo values of appreciation for higher expectations, especially the completion of 2nd Niger Bridge”.

The Igbo youths saluted the South East Governors Forum, for the harmonious relationship between them and the federal government irrespective of the activities of the saboteurs.

“We call on ndigbo to embrace and support the South East Governors, as agents of propaganda are only playing on the mood of the people for their selfishness.

“OYC is full of hope that International flights will resume operations at Enugu international Airport after resumption date for International flights on September 5th 2020, “the release concluded.
