Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, will on May 1 inaugurate the World Omoluabi Day with the theme ‘Omoluabi Ni Mi’ in Ife, Osun State.
In a statement signed by Aremo Oladotun Hassan, founder and president, Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW), the inauguration would have in attendance Obas, political leaders, stakeholders, Yoruba youths among others.
He said that the inauguration of the Omoluabi Day was aimed at bringing honour, prestige and dignity to the cultural heritage, values and traditional ethos of the Yoruba people.
Hassan also stated that the programme was aimed at promoting peace and uniting Yoruba sons and daughters worldwide for strategic economic growth and social development.
“Our unity is key to our development and growth as a race blessed and ordained by God with over 40 million population globally, hence the need to harness these golden opportunities for our common growth and advantage.
“It is most important to clarify that Yoruba moral tradition transients and it is globally recognized, precipitating the need to be well guided with Omoluabi etiquette, principles, rules and regulations for all youths and good people of Yoruba land and in Diaspora, in order to promote the globalization of the Yoruba cultural heritage, values and tradition,” he added.
He further stated that Omoluabi Oodua award would be bestowed on Her Majesty, Yeye Luwa Olori Evang. Silekunola Naomi Ogunwusi as Iyaniwura Oodua of Yoruba and, Chief Abdulwaheed Adebayo Adelabu (Agba-Akin Parakoyi of Ibadan land) as Aare Atunluse Oodua of Yoruba land, Femi Gbajabiamila as Omoluabi Oodua of Yoruba land.
