The Plateau chapter of the PDP has called on residents of the North-Central state to devote the Easter season to praying for an end to the Coronavirus.
“Plateau residents should not despair; the Coronavirus will pass away. All we need is to use the Easter Season to cry to God. He is a merciful Father and will listen to us,” the political party said in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Mr John Akans.
The party prayed for a happy Easter celebration “in spite of the pandemic that has effectively shutdown the whole world which makes this year’s celebration different from previous Easter celebrations”.
It urged the Christian faithful to use the occasion for self atonement and the offering of prayers to God for the speedy recovery of those down with the virus.
The party called on Christians not to lose sight of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross which purchased their redemption, pointing out that His resurrection rekindled hope to all believers.
“The significance of His death and resurrection should not be lost on us; just as he rose from the dead, Christians should also know that true believers will rise again with him in eternity,” he said.
The party said that the mystery of Easter should deepen Christian faith, hope and love for one another.
The PDP acknowledged efforts and sacrifices of medical personnel the world over, who are on the front line of the battle against Coronavirus, and particularly commended those in Plateau who were doing excellently well “in spite of the unfavorable conditions of the health sector here”.
The party implored Plateau residents to cooperate with government by observing precautionary measures of social distancing and imbibing the attitude of washing hands with soap at all times.
