Amidst debate over the continued relevance of the West African Examination Council’s Senior School Certificate exam, the Presidency is strongly considering scrapping the entire exam altogether.
His Advisers insist this would be a good move, considering the continued decline of results nationwide, especially from the President’s power base North. In the words of a presidential adviser, who pleaded anonymity “If there is no exam to write, there will be no exam to fail”. The adviser also added that the WASSCE was stifling funds that could be channeled towards JAMB and NECO.
“Ze WAEC is taking a chunk of the education budget” he said “If we take this funds and direct them to JAMB and NECO, will will be better off. This is why we need to scrap Ze WAEC. ECOWAS is overrated anyway, so why are we still writing their exams?”
