Reno Omokri tells Dele Momodu what he thinks about Igbo Presidency, Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho

Reno Omokri the former aide to former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, was live on Zoom with Chief Dele Momodu, the CEO and publisher of Ovation International. There Reno Omokri said what he thought about the likelihood of an Igbo Presidency in 2023 and the ongoing agitations by some Igbos and Yorubas for a Biafra and Yoruba nation.

On the issue of Igbo Presidency Reno Omokri said he loves the South East and if given the opportunity he will nominate former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, to be the next President of Nigeria. However, he also said he is a pragmatist so he doesn’t see an Igbo man becoming the next President unless the powers that be say that the two major political parties which are the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must both produce a candidate that is of Igbo origin.

“I really love the South East and I appreciate the ingenuity of the people of the South East. I went to Nnewi and I’ve seen what they can do. But when it comes to real politics, except you have a situation where the rest of Nigeria or rather the powers that be tells APC and PDP to produce Igbo candidates, Igbo Presidency is more or less going to be like a pipe dream,” Reno Omokri.said.

Speaking further, Reno Omokri opined that non of PDP and APC will want to make a Southerner their presidential candidate because if one does and the other makes a popular northerner their candidate, the party with the northern man as their candidate will win. So for Igbo Presidency to happen there has to be an agreement by both political parties.

On the issue of agitations for Biafra and Yoruba nations, he said there is a possibility that both groups could get their wish but only if they work together.

Speaking about the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, he said: “If Nnamdi Kanu has the personality that Sunday Igboho has, I will say it’s going to be possible. Sunday Igboho is willing to suppress his ego, he is willing to work with Nnamdi Kanu and the Biafran People, he is somebody I respect a lot. Sunday Igboho is highly underated, he is very intelligent, he knows how to suppress his ego for his policy, strategy and his principles.”
