Sallah: Police to deploy 3,067 personnel in Bauchi State

The Police Command in Bauchi State said on Saturday that it would deployed 3,067 personnel to provide security during the forthcoming Sallah in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Jamal Abubakar disclosed this in Bauchi.

Abubakar said those to be deployed comprised conventional police officers and men as well as other tactical teams of the command.

He said that the personnel would be equipped with logistics and other items to man all praying grounds and other public places during the celebration.

The PPRO said that the personnel would be under strict instruction of the state Commissioner of Police and would be civil but firm in the discharge of their duties.

He said that the deployment was in line with the statutory responsibility of the command to protect lives and property of the innocent citizens of the state.

Abubakar said that the command would collaborate with other security agencies and critical stakeholders to ensure that the celebration was peaceful and hitch free.

The spokesman said that the command was prepared to deal with hoodlums, political thugs and other disgruntled elements that might attempt to cause break down of law and order before, during and after the festive period.

He said that the command wished to extend its warm greetings to all Muslim faithful and other citizens of the state as they celebrated Eid-el Kabir.

“We enjoins the people to cooperate with the police and other security agencies in their efforts towards ensuring peaceful celebrations and equally report any suspicious person or object to the nearest police station,” he said.

The PPRO urged the residents to call the command’s emergency phone number, , in case of emergence.
