The present avoidable division is APGA is like the music of the legendary Chief Osita Osadebe, Osondi, Owendi. Many are happy while many might have been saying, had we know. To me, APGA deserved more than that. Not just because I am not an APGA member but the impunity of APGA leadership under Oye is bereft of civil politicking. According to Ndi Igbo, aru gbaa afo, o buru ome n’ala.
In 2019 prior to general election in Nigeria, Mr Victor Oye orchestrated a charade cum political ikperimarism tagged primary election. Many contestants were duped of their hard earned money running into millions of naira. The likes of Late Chief Godson Ezenagu (Ochendo Igbo) were drained by Oye and his likes with a promise to flag APGA flag for federal house of representatives, Awka-North and South federal constituency. At the end, Oye and his cohorts never kept to their promise. As usual, the highest bidder was considered.
In Imo State, the lyrics of extortion of contestants were louder. Many contested this ikperimaristic display of oye-led APGA leadership but nothing was done. Till today, Imo State APGA has not recovered from Oye’s misguided extortion.
In Anambra State, the wife of the Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu, whose ideology upon which APGA was formed was denied APGA senatorial ticket for Anambra South. In Oye’s political ideology, alert is more important than what the party stands for. He and his exco members are mafian managers who their only interest is what you are putting on the table.
Now, Hon Chukwuma Umeoji seems to be aware of the likelihood of a repeat of Oye’s gangsterism and was prepared to take his political destiny into his hand. Any action by Mr Victor Oye faction of APGA is marched with proportionate reaction.
This singular act is good for one thing: if APGA cross this hurdle, Oye’s political ikperimarism must be checkmated. Hon Chukwuma Umeoji has shown that elephant might be big in size, but lion is still the king of the jungle. This battle, to me, is not for him alone but for those who were denied opportunity to participate in APGA primary elections in 2019 and 2021 for slimpsy excuses.
APGA, as a matter of urgency, should do away with such a character capable of derailing the chances of APGA in future political elections. On no account should Mr Victor Oye be in charge of any future internal elections in APGA. A repeat of what happened in the past will bury APGA, if Oye and his cohorts are not shown the exit door.
To Hon Chukwuma Umeoji, I say jisike. Agu Awka is not far for men who knows their left from their right. The elephant might be big in size but , truly, lion is the king of the jungle.
