History was made on Saturday, 28th November, 2020 as ALGON/NULGE in conjunction Joint Mobile Sanitation Agency of Nigeria (JOMSAN) launched Vehicle Permits/Stickers for the year 2021 in order to carry out the National Assembly directive to ALGON/NULGE as regards the menace of multiple taxation caused by the unwarranted and unlawful blocking of highways by miscreants in the name of government revenue which has negatively impacted on the movement of food and services.
Dignitaries from all walks of life graced the occasion. Katamkpe Hall in Green Minds Hotel, Utako Abuja was filled to the brim as members of ALGON/NULGE from all the 36 states of the federation were in attendance.
The National President of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) who was ably represented by the Vice-President, South-East, Prince Patrick Igwe cleared the air about the directive of National Assembly to ALGON/NULGE to curtail the excesses of miscreants and touts on the highways and create acceptable mode of operations. He went further to inform the public that JOMSAN had an agreement with ALGON/NULGE to effectively carry out the directives of the National Assembly. The Vice President of NULGE also made available to the public the letters from National Assembly to ALGON, from ALGON to Inspector-General of Police and from Inspector-General of Police to all Commissioners of Police in Nigeria to assist ALGON/NULGE in carrying out this directive.
Speaking during the launching, the National President of JOMSAN, High Chief (Dr) Nnamdi Ogbogbo JP thanked members of ALGON/NULGE for honouring the invitation in spite of their crowded programmes and short notice. He reiterated that Joint Mobile Sanitation Agency of Nigeria, (JOMSAN) an incorporated entity under the laws of Federal Republic of Nigeria government is calling on the Federal, State, the Local Government, Drivers Unions, Security Agencies and the general public to asist them in this battle with necessary logistics & funding and join them in this war against multiple taxation and the blocking of federal highways in order to bring back sanity to our roads, uniformity among the 774 local government revenue contractors in the Mobile Advert Industry, enhance the food supply chain and ensure the ease of doing business in our country. Chief Ogbogbo also informed the public that his administration will introduce the use of Marshalls which will soon be recruited among the youths and that they will undergo professional training and orientation.
The occasion was indeed a huge success as members of ALGON/NULGE joyfully left the venue of the occasion at the end to their respective destinations.
