Uzo-Uwani Council Chairman Receives Plaudits as Health Department lists interventions

The leadership of Health Department in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, has lauded the Executive Chairman of the Council Area, Hon. Chukwudi Celestine Nnadozie for his Sterling leadership exemplification in the rural council.

The health workers who had converged at Nkpologu Health Centre on the 26th of October, 2021, to appraise the services of the department to the LGA as well as chat the way forward included Enwe C. U, HOD Health and Primary Health Care co-ordinator in the Council area; Akor J. O, HOD Health Adada Local Government Development Centre and National President of National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria (NACHPN).

Others were: Ike L. I, HOD Health Igboano Local Government Development Centre; Okpo V. A, HOD Health Ogboli Local Government Development Centre; Ayogu E. E, Malaria control focal person; Okafor E. U, social mobilizing Officer; Oraekenyi L. T, Assistant Local immunization officer (LIO); Ogbu J, Assistant disease surveillance and notification officer (DSNO) and Dr. R. Onunze, Assistant Cold Chain Officer (CCO)

The meeting which was attended by the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) of the LGA, Hon. Anselem Okechukwu; Dr. Collins Chukwuebuka Okafor, Supervisor for health in the LGA and Gwiyi Solomon, SPA on Media to the council chairman also provided an opportunity for the Health workers to welcome the new HOD of Health department, Mrs. Enwe C. U.

During the program, the health department’s leadership listed the Council Chairman’s interventions in the unit to include sponsorship of Maternal, newborn and child health week; funding of Integrated medical outreach programmes; his regular and prompt payment of salaries and concerted effort towards offsetting unpaid backward leave allowances of workers in the department.

Other interventions listed by the health workers included his Sponsorship of oral polio vaccination (OPV) and funding of breastfeeding week celebration 2020 and 2021; which they said has given opportunities to pregnant women, mothers and children to benefit from the local government.

In their separate responses to the health workers, the DPM of the LGA, Hon. Anselem Okechukwu and Dr. Chukwuebuka Okafor, Supervisor for health in the LGA, urged the workers to continue to support Hon. Chukwudi Celestine Nnadozie’s administration as the council boss works tirelessly to ensure the welfare of health department and other units of the LGA.

While Hon. Okechukwu further stressed that the Council chairman is reputed for placing prompt payment of salary of workers over every other Interests, Dr. Okafor pledged to take new demands of the workers to the council chairman for his accelerated attention.
